Trying out DarkFall Online
A few of us have recently delved into the world of Agon, a massive open PvP world with a full-loot system that is unforgiving and open-ended also known as Darkfall. I myself started playing based off the idea that PvP was unlimited by anything, since I was growing tired of the faction based PvP in most modern MMO’s. For me, Lineage 2’s open PvP world was what excited me most about MMO’s in general, but unfortunately L2’s grind didn’t hold my interest for very long. Dark Fall shares many similarities to the original MMORPG Ultima Online, yet mixes in some FPS elements and a massive 3D world that looks a lot better in-game than screenshots do it justice.
Unfortunately, the game also has its own flaws and grinding as well. Although you have complete access to the entirety of the game on day 1, there is a substantial amount of skill grinding to do before you can become viable in PvP combat. The engine itself is also outdated, and suffers from clunkiness and bugs, while the PvP combat animations are bland and awkward. Hopefully the game keeps my interest long enough to see some visual and technical upgrades come along! If you would like to join in and participate on the Dark Fall fun, visit the forums or hop on our Ventrilo.
In the meantime, I’ll continue to post my experiences here…
